Dennis Larson

Dennis graduated from high school in 1959 while living in Williston, ND, and attended a year of college at an extension of the University of North Dakota. He joined the United States Air Force in 1963 and served until 1967 maintaining weapons control systems for the F4C fighter aircraft. Dennis’ career after the Air Force included working for several datacom companies as Vice President of Manufacturing Operations where he created or re-engineered a manufacturing option for each of them, retiring in 2007. In 2019, Dennis lost his wife of 58 years to cancer and felt a calling to start the non-profit, End of Life Ready, dedicated to helping people plan for their end of life.
Nancy Castro

Nancy earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the United States Air Force Academy, graduating in 1991. She followed up her undergraduate studies with two master’s degrees, the most current one in Administrative and Organizational Management from George Washington University in 1999. Before joining the End of Life Ready, Inc. Board of Directors, Nancy was employed as a dental office bookkeeper, insurance claims processor, billing specialist, and marketing coordinator for the past 17 years. Prior to that, she served for nine years in the United States Air Force as an F-15C Aircraft Maintenance and Logistics Planning Officer. Nancy’s appointed role as the someday executor of her parent’s estate was the inspiration for her interest in end-of-life planning, and she created the original workshop and corresponding booklet that has become the basis for End of Life Ready.
Judy Boehm
Director
Judy earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from the Case Western Reserve University. She followed up her undergraduate studies with a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Alabama in 1975. Judy worked as a cardiac clinical nurse specialist for 31 years in Lebanon, NH, focusing on cardiopulmonary resuscitation programs during the latter part of her career. After retirement in 2010, Judy has worked tirelessly to educate the community on emergency response procedures and has helped outfit several organizations with automated external defibrillators (AEDs). Judy became involved in end-of-life planning in 2017, working with Nancy Castro on providing a workshop for Harvest United Methodist Church. In addition to serving as a Director for End of Life Ready, she is also the editor for all the content on the organization’s website.
Denny Horner
Director, Acting Financial Accountant
Denny earned two degrees at Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA, an Associate of Business Administration (ABA) in 1968 and in 1970 a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in accounting. Denny was employed by PECO Energy for 35 years in the Accounting and Financial Division, the last 10 years in the Treasury Division as the cash manager of the corporation. After retiring in 1990 from PECO Energy, Denny took a position as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Church of the Saviour in Wayne, PA, for 12 years, retiring in 2003. He became Principal and Owner of Horner Consulting, working with several not-for-profit organizations, including Church of the Saviour, retiring in 2017. From 1995 until final retirement in 2017 (22 years), Denny served as Treasurer to Cornerstone Christian Academy in Southwest Philadelphia, PA, and functioned as the business and finance office. He retired from this position in 2017. Denny serves as a Director for End of Life Ready and has acted as the group’s Financial Accountant.
Art Leach
Treasurer
Art earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the United States Air Force Academy, graduating in 1967. He served in the United States Air Force as a navigator and electronic warfare officer (EWO), flying 222 combat sorties during the Vietnam War. After the war, he served out his Air Force career in a variety of positions and earned two master’s degrees, one in management and the other in systems management. After 24 years of defending our country, Art felt a calling to the ministry and entered Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, KY, earning a Master of Divinity and was ordained as a deacon in 1994 and then an elder, in 1996. Art retired from the ministry in 2012 but is still dedicated to helping people and joined End of Life Ready in 2020 to serve as the Treasurer.
Deborah Murphy Secretary
Deborah earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Kansas. She followed up her undergraduate studies with a master’s degree in History and Political Science from Indiana University in 1969. Deborah was elected and served as the Lyons Township Clerk for 8 years and as a teacher for 28 years, teaching American History in Western Springs, IL. She retired from full-time teaching in 2012. Deborah’s husband died in a canoeing accident in June 2013, leaving her unexpectedly with the task of maintaining their households in Illinois and Florida. After moving to Florida full time, Deborah’s interest in helping individuals dealing with grief and the difficulty of living alone after a life spent with a partner lead her to join in the mission of End of Life Ready.
David Simpson EOLR Contributor
David earned Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Agricultural Education from the University of Maryland and then a Master of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. Upon receiving his undergraduate degree, David taught high school Vocational Agricultural from 1972-76, then three years as Director of Public Relations for the MD Cooperative Milk Producers. In 1979 he became Vice President of Education for the American Institute of Cooperation where he served until 1988. He resigned in 1988 to pursue a call to full-time pastoral ministry in the United Methodist Church until retirement in 2016. During his ministerial career he served as pastor of five different congregations and spent six years as Assistant to the Bishop of the Washington Episcopal Area of the UMC. His interest and involvement in End of Life Ready come from 30 years of providing pastoral care to grieving families during end-of-life realities.
