Individuals often have not completed end-of-life planning for three main reasons:
1. They do not want to talk about dying.
2. They feel overwhelmed by the task and do not want to pay money to do it.
3. They do not realize there is more to end-of-life planning than just writing a last will and testament and creating a trust.
When our founder, Dennis Larson, lost his wife to cancer, he fell into that third category and quickly became overwhelmed by the unanticipated challenges he faced in assuming life’s responsibilities while in the midst of grieving. Their planning had covered many of the big end-of-life issues, but he still ran up against several roadblocks, especially when dealing with those tasks his wife had previously managed exclusively. When he was a few months into restructuring his life as a widower, he felt a call from God to create an end-of-life planning resource that would better prepare families for the immediate events associated with the loss of a loved one (i.e. advanced directives, funeral plans, etc.), as well as the process of settling an estate and assuming new life responsibilities. His vision was for this planning to be a free digital book, MY BOOK for End of Life Readiness, and for it to be a gift individuals could complete with and for their loved ones.
We cannot make it easier to talk about dying or take away the pain of losing someone you love, but we have provided you with the resources you will need to complete your end-of-life planning by structuring it as a free online book, MY BOOK, you can tackle chapter by chapter. Not only will you be able to fill the information you need into the forms, but the accompanying content can help you understand what is needed and why. Death finds all of us eventually, and there is much more that you can do than just writing out your will. When you have filled in the forms and compiled your personal MY BOOK for End of Life Readiness, you can rest easy knowing you have done everything you can do to smooth the transition for your loved ones.
We want everyone to have the peace, comfort, and hope that comes with being a prepared survivor. This is a gift from us to you and for you to give to each other. We hope you have such a meaningful experience that you cannot stop talking about it and want to share our website with others. We want to create a movement in end-of-life planning.
